Our stay here was truly paradise. We were here with our 2 children ages 7 & 9. They loved snorkeling in the geothermic pool (one word of advice-put sunscreen on your whole back-side if you know what I mean!) We loved going up to the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy. Another favorite thing of ours was hiking the undeveloped side of the Thuston Lava Tube at Volcanoes Na. Park - be sure to take a flashlight. The kids loved to feed the resident "duck." I think that one of the most meaningful things that we did here was plant a coconut tree at Kaimu Beach. We took pictures and got the GPS co-ordinates. One day, we will all come back and visit our tree that will add to the Big Island's beauty. This was a great trip with many lasting memories. Thank you to the Yunis family! |

Our stay here will always bring fond memories to all of us. This was a dream come true & this wonderful place made it even more than we expected it to be. Sunsets, sunrise, & even the rain made it a great experience. Daughter & son in law had these vows renewed & it was so beautiful & something that took place that we will never experience any where else in this world. Just a wonderful wonderful time. Hate to move on to Kona after this. Audrey & Alan were the best. |

We had a wonderful Christmas without presents - Our stay in this lovely place was the best present ever! Grandma (carol) first came to the Lagoon house in 1989, and with other family members has to returned several tmes. But this was the best! Grandaughter, Becca, which 2 1/2, laughed the whole times she was in the pool. All the adults enjoyed snorkeling here, and in adjoining pools. The vacationland tidepools offered coral pools as well. Most of the time we just relaxed here! Our gracious hosts provided a baby bed and play seat for our 6 month old, who just loved having so many family members to hold him. Mahalo! Thank you, We'll be Back! |

Great Swims in this giant Pond. We love sitting on the Lanai at night and watching the waves break beyond the pond. Really no place like this else where. This house is setup beautifully and in a very smart way. We are here from Florida on our Honeymoon and will carry these memories forth always. We had great Weather with sunny day after sunny day. Great Snorkel in the pond and many wonderdful side trips. Loved "Mr. Waddles" and his evening routine. Fantastic food from local sources. Will be back soon. Mahalo! Thank you for the flowers on the table they bloomed all week. |

We have spent a spectacular week here. This is the best place to vacation in Kapoho, & we have stayed in this area more than 10 times. It is the ideal location with a very comfortable home. You cannot ask for better Hosts than the Yunis Family. Any request we made was promptly & cheerfully fullfilled. The resident Duck apparently had no name so we have chrsitened him as "Au-Kele" (Hawaiian for Swim & Glide) We liked watching him swim before sunrise. Be sure to try: *Dinner at Kaleo's in Pahoa *Swimming in the Warm Pond Down the Red Road *Snorkeling in the Kapoho TidePools *Buying Fresh Fish at Suisan Fish Market in Hilo. Much Aloha |

Thank you so much for the most wonderful vacation EVER! - Oceanside Home - Snorkeling out our front door - fresh fish caught by Audrey - bicycling the Volcano - Zipline in Hawi - Shopping in Kona - Standing in Southern most point in the USA - Lava Boat Sunset Tour But best of all, the hospitality of our caretaker (hostess Audrey) who is the finest repersentative of Hawaii possible. There aren't enough English words to express it, so Mahalo! |

I wanted to take a minute and let you know how much we enjoyed both properties. We had such an incredible and relaxing time in Hawaii and that is because of where we stayed for the week! We enjoyed the sun rising over the water every morning and jumping in and snorkeling each day. I enjoyed talking with Audrey, every morning, while she fished. It was nice to know if we needed anything she was just steps away. She made our transition from one place to the other flawless. Thank you for opening up these awesome vacation homes! We will highly recommend these places if any of our friends plan a trip to Hawaii. |

This was the perfect house for our group (6 adults, 2 kids). The house is clean, spacious, and offers breathtaking views. We enjoyed all of our meals on the huge lanai, even during the beautiful storms, which were a welcome break from the heat. We've come to the big island twice, and have spent time on both sides each trip, completely different experiences and highly recommended! We saw turtles from the property almost every time we walked down to the sea wall. The on-site caretaker (Audrey) was very sweet, welcoming, and helpful. If we are lucky enough to return to this island we will definitely stay here again. Thanks so much!! |

Thank you Audrey for making our stay the most welcoming we've ever had. Thank you so very much! My family and I had a blast staying here. It's so nice to hear the ocean at night. Personally I loved it! This trip from CA was special to me because this is where I learned for the first time how to fish! Thank you so much for everything! This was really awesome! Thanks! My Mom thought Champagne Pond was beautiful. Me and my brother went boogie boarding and caught some big waves! At the last minute my dad, brother, and I went fishing! The fish just wouldn't bite! Thank you once again! |

This is our 2nd trip to the Oceanside Villa & it's fantastic. Carl grew up in Hilo & his parents owned a beach home in Kapoho Vacationland, so this is special to share with his family. Everything in the house was great, Audrey was an excellent host, & the ocean activities never disappoint. Mahalo |

Wonderful Thanksgiving in Kapoho. We all enjoyed the break from Maui's paradise to majestic Kapoho. Beautiful house with ocean view, large yard for the kids to play, and of course the simmering ponds and turtles. Truly Hawaii's last uncelebrated secret. Mahalo, The Kuwahara's |

This home is every bit as immaculate and spacious as it appears in the photos! My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks in July 2011 with our 3 children (all in their 20's). Each one had his own bedroom. The downstairs separate "apartment" was perfect for our 2 sons with it's own LR, BR,TV, mini -fridge, and shaded patio. Note: the downstairs apt. is not accessible from within the main house. You must take the outside stairs to get to it. The kitchen has most everything one needs for food prep and has an assortment of condiments and varying items left by previous guests. BBQ on kitchen deck is a nice cooking option. You should do your main shopping in Hilo but don't buy every last thing until you evaluate what you will need for the home. Don't miss the Sunday farmers" market in Hilo. There is an assortment of 5 or 6 snorkel, mask, fin sets in the garage in various states of disrepair (you can assemble at least 2 full sets out of all the parts) as well as noodles and a boogie board for swimming. There is an ironing board & iron but no hair dryer. You won't ever need to do your hair because between swimming in the ocean, and the humidity, no hair-do will last anyway! There are 3 portable phones in the house, (equipped with intercom for communicating with your family 2 stories below) and all of the big island is considered local calling with no LD fees. Our Verizon phones were useless in this house so I actually had to pull out my ancient MCI calling card for out -of -state phone calls! AT&T had good phone reception however. The Wi-fi reception is variable & somewhat inconsistant. I could not get my I-pad II 3 G (which I purchased just for this trip) to connect to internet at all for 2 weeks. You may have no access problems depending on your equipment. Regular PCs seem to hook up ok. Champagne pond is very close. Go there more than once if you don't see much sea life the first time. I snorkeled 2 feet from a huge green sea turtle as he idled near the rocks in the rear-most part of the Champagne pond. Don't miss the publec "warm pond" just a short way down the Red Road just past the elementary school. You will not be disappointed in this wonderful home and location! P.S. Do NOT miss eating out at Cafe Pesto in Hilo. Make sure you have a reservation if a big group because it is always crowded! |

So much fun.... So much swimming... we had a wonderful time. We saw 2 octopuses at the tidal pools! We've stayed in different houses in this community and this one was our whole family's favorite - very nice. The children especially enjoyed their pet-away-from-home, Prince, the lizard hunter. We would love to come again next year, and are hoping that the only negative - the dogs that bark every morning from 3am-6am will be a thing of the past. Sleeping a little extra on vacation should be a legal right :). The Yunis' are the best landlords ever! We really appreciated all they did to make our stay great. Now back to the Arctic... Great house & great location! Day 1: Champagne Pond, Tide pools, Akalanui and orange lava glow. Awesome! Oops, maybe that was vacationland and Ahalanui. Also, I love the Hawaii blue & lava black color scheme in the living room. Day 2: University Pond - thank you so much for directions! We walked & saw the beautiful corals & fish, not for beginning snorkelers. Crater Rim & Chain of Craters Drive was nice. Fresh lava is gorgeous. Day 3: University & Champagne Pond - AGAIN!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful house. C U Soon! Aloha! |

After visiting the islands several times, we truly enjoyed the tranquil beauty of the area! We snorkeled in the Champagne Pond 2-3 times a day, went to the lava flow, hiked, got some great sun and had a wonderful 2 weeks! Thank you Muhammad and Sophia for the avocados/coconuts, very nice of you! :) May all who enjoy this beautiful part of the Big Island take in all we did! Mahalo |
